Mary Edwards, director of facilities for landscape and grounds, has been awarded the 2025 Doc Gallup Award for Service Excellence by the Rollins Service Excellence Team.

As one colleague notes, “Her dedication to serving others mirrors the spirit of Galen ‘Doc’ Gallup, whose passion, energy, and humor created unforgettable experiences for everyone around him. Like Doc, Mary inspires those she serves with exceptional service and unwavering positivity. Whether it’s lending a helping hand or offering a listening ear, Mary consistently goes above and beyond to make those around her feel valued and supported. Her tireless work ethic and proactive approach make her not only an incredible colleague but also a trusted mentor.”

Another added, “Mary has an innate ability to bring people together, fostering collaboration and ensuring everyone feels empowered to contribute their best. She has helped shape an environment where service excellence is the standard, not the exception. Mary’s contributions have made a significant impact, and we are grateful for her commitment to excellence.”

The Doc Gallup Award for Service Excellence recognizes an individual faculty or staff member who, in the judgment of the Service Excellence Team, best exemplifies and models Rollins’ Service Excellence philosophy and values in their service to others. The award is named in memory of Galen “Doc” Gallup, who served as Rollins’ beloved post office supervisor from 2006 to 2016. Gallup was well known for his passion, high energy, and humor in creating memorable experiences for those he served. Although Gallup lost his battle with cancer in early 2020, the memory of his good nature and special approach to serving others will continue to be a source of inspiration for those whose lives he touched.
