The Rollins Forensics Team participated at the Queens College Alumni Forensics Tournament in New York City on October 25. Competing against powerhouse legacy programs, the Rollins team showcased exceptional talent and professionalism across multiple events.

  • Brett Covington ’28 earned second place in Informative Speaking, impressing judges with a dynamic and well-researched presentation on rare earth minerals and their global importance.
  • Amelia King ’29 achieved a fourth-place finish in Poetry Interpretation, earning praise for her powerful vocal delivery and emotional authenticity.
  • In debate, six Rollins students competed in four rounds, and collectively, the team earned third place in Overall Debate Sweepstakes behind George Mason University and Lafayette College, a significant achievement for a first-year team.

Communication professor and head coach David Painter commended the group’s poise and progress, noting that they “competed with heart, intellect, and grace against some of the most respected programs in the country. Their success reflects the strength of a Rollins education and the promise of what’s ahead for our forensics program.”
