SPN 295F: Spain/Portugal - Walking the Camino: A Journey of Learning, Culture, and Connection

Are you ready to step onto one of the world's most legendary pilgrimage routes? This immersive field study blends adventure, culture, and learning as you explore sustainable tourism, intercultural connections, and responsible travel—all while walking the last 100 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James) in northern Spain. To officially complete the journey, we will walk from the city of Porto in Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, earning a place among centuries of pilgrims. Along the way, we will visit historical sites, from medieval cathedrals to ancient monasteries; learn about local traditions and gastronomy; journey through picturesque villages and scenic landscapes; and experience firsthand the significant impact of pilgrimage and tourism in the region while connecting with travelers from all over the world in the Camino’s spirit of unity and diversity. The Camino is more than just a walk—it's a profound journey that expands your perspective and invites you to join a centuries-old global tradition. ¡Buen camino, peregrino!
