Commencement 2026 FAQ: College of Liberal Arts
Why is Rollins asking College of Liberal Arts graduating seniors to vote on the ceremony type?
The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) Class of 2027 is one of our largest graduating classes in recent years. Because the Alfond Sports Center has a fixed seating capacity, we are seeking student input on how to best balance the graduate experience with guest attendance opportunities.
What are the commencement ceremony options being considered for CLA graduating seniors?
- Option A: One Ceremony
- All CLA graduates participate in a single Commencement ceremony.
- Each graduate receives three guest tickets.
- Family and friends without tickets may view the ceremony from designated air-conditioned viewing spaces on campus.
- Option B: Two Ceremonies
- CLA graduates are divided into two ceremonies by academic division.
- Each graduate receives up to five guest tickets for the ceremony in which they are participating.
- Graduates who wish to attend the other ceremony as a guest will receive a guest ticket for that event, and four remaining guest tickets for their own ceremony.
How will I know which ceremony I’m assigned to under Option B?
If Option B is selected, additional details about academic division assignments and ceremony times will be shared well in advance of commencement.
I’m a double major. Which ceremony would I attend under Option B?
Double majors will have the opportunity to choose which ceremony they wish to participate in.
How do I vote?
Eligible CLA graduating seniors will receive information about the survey. The survey is open for two weeks, and each student may submit one response.
When will the final decision be announced?
After the survey closes, responses will be reviewed and the selected ceremony format will be communicated to graduates as soon as possible.
What if my family cannot attend commencement in person?
Commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed so that family and friends can celebrate your achievement from anywhere.
Will there be viewing spaces on campus for guests without tickets?
Yes. If Option A is selected, guests without ceremony tickets will be able to watch the livestream from designated air-conditioned viewing locations on campus.
